Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals "fail" background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

44. INTRODUCE YOUR CHARACTER. INCLUDE SOME BACKGROUND STORY, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, AND WHY THEY WANT TO JOIN THE DEPARTMENT.
- Gerald Carl Beloff was born on January 17, 1987 at Pillbox Medical Hospital. Gerald was born to a family that always wanted the best for him. Gerald's father, Harold, was working as a taxi chauffeur and after a couple of years moved on to drive limousines and then work in security. Gerald's mother was a chief at a transportation company, being in charge of moving goods around amongst other tasks. Both Gerald's father & mother taught him important lessons early on about hard work and responsibility.
As a kid, Gerald had a pretty regular childhood. School wasn't an issue for Gerald, however he wasn't the top of his class either. Gerald was just an average student that tried to figure out what he wanted to do in life. Despite none of Gerald's parents being in the law enforcement, he always found himself in the thoughts of becoming a police officer of some sort.
One day, when Gerald was younger, out with his mother at their local pizzeria, something happened that would change everything for Gerald. Two police officers entered the pizzeria as Gerald sat down with his mother waiting for their order as everyone turned around to look at the two police officers, Gerald briefly widened his eyes as he spotted the officers, getting a feeling of both excitement and curiosity.
One of the two officers noticed little Gerald with his mother, sitting by one of the tables and came over. He smiled at Gerald as he pulled out a shiny pin-badge from his pocket. The officer handed the pin to Gerald as he took a long look at the pin where it said "When I grow up I'm gonna become a police officer". And just in this moment, Gerald felt a different kind of pride. Gerald kept the pin-badge to this day.
When Gerald started highschool, he started to struggle with what he was gonna do after his graduation. Gerald's friends seemed to already have their futures planned out, but Gerald was still a bit lost in terms of his future. He often spoke to his older half-sister, Hannah, same mother but not the same father, who lived out in Sandy Shores with her family. She had a steady life and shared good life advices with Gerald, but sometimes it felt like he still didn't know where he was going in life.
One evening at much later stage in Gerald's life, his father sat down with him to talk. Gerald's father could see that Gerald still was trying to figure things out in life and that he wasn't happy with his current job and his current lifestyle. As Gerald sat down with his father, his father simply and calmly said "Life can be tough sometimes, Gerald, but honestly if you want a good and steady future, you need to work hard and get yourself an education. Becoming a police officer is a good choice. You can do it". Gerald's fathers words stuck with him along with his memory of the officer who gave him the pin at that local pizzeria when he was just a little kid.
At this stage in life, Gerald started working security after taking security courses. He worked security for a couple of years until he finally decided to take an absence of leave to apply for police academy, and so he did. What awaits Gerald in the near future is yet unknown, but he knows that he's gonna do his absolute best to one day become a law enforcement officer.
