Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals "fail" background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

44. INTRODUCE YOUR CHARACTER. INCLUDE SOME BACKGROUND STORY, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, AND WHY THEY WANT TO JOIN THE DEPARTMENT.
- Ella has been a part of the city of Los Santos since the day she was born, but her life hasn’t always been easy. Growing up in a household where love was sometimes drowned out by the harsh realities of life, Ella learned early on how to deal with difficulties. Her father, an alcoholic, was often absent in the way that truly mattered physically present, but emotionally distant. His struggles with addiction were something Ella could never quite understand, but they shaped her life regardless. Her mother, on the other hand, was the glue that kept the family together. She was warm, loving, and always supportive, but it was clear to Ella that the weight of trying to balance everything was often too much for one person to bear.
Ella spent her childhood navigating the ups and downs of living in a turbulent household, watching her father’s drinking spiral go on and on, while her mother worked tirelessly to make sure her family could get by. Despite the chaos, Ella always did her best to stay focused on school and the few things that brought her a sense of stability her part time job at the Mirror Park Diner, where she learned the value of hard work, and her deep sense of empathy, which grew stronger with every difficult moment she witnessed.
Her experiences at home and in the city led her to develop a unique understanding of people. She saw how the darker sides of life could affect individuals and communities, but also how love and resilience could bring hope and change. As much as she longed for things to be different at home, Ella understood that her reality was something she had to face head on. It was hard, but it was also the driving force behind her desire to help others. She wasn’t going to let her father’s addiction or the constant strain at home define her.
When she wasn’t working at the diner, Ella became involved in the Los Santos Community Watch Program. It gave her purpose, a way to make a tangible difference in her neighborhood, and a chance to escape the weight of her home life. Watching the rise of crime in her city, from thefts to vandalism, sparked a fire inside her. She saw what the world could do to people if left unchecked, but she also realized that people like her, those who were willing to step up and give more, could change the course of things. She knew she was meant for something greater.
After graduating from high school, Ella’s focus shifted toward a new path. She enrolled at the San Andreas K9 Training Academy, knowing that it was her chance to build a future for herself, far beyond the small world she had grown up in. There, she worked alongside skilled professionals, training dogs for security, search and rescue, and law enforcement. The bond she developed with the dogs was profound, and she learned to trust in them, just as she longed for the world to trust in her.
For the first time, Ella felt like she was part of something bigger, part of a force that could actually protect people and make a difference. Her mother, ever supportive, stood by her, proud of the young woman Ella was becoming despite the difficulties she faced growing up. Her father, unfortunately, remained trapped in his addiction, unable to give her the support she needed, but Ella had made peace with it. She had found her purpose, and it wasn’t about fixing him; it was about being the best version of herself, for herself.
Now, after years of dedication and hard work, Ella is ready to take the next step in her journey. With a strong foundation in dog handling and a deep desire to serve her community, she is applying to join the Los Santos Sheriff's Department, with a goal to enter the K9 unit. Her time in the K9 Academy, her work in the community, and the lessons she learned from her own family have shaped her into someone who doesn’t just want to be part of law enforcement, she feels a deep responsibility to protect and serve, because she knows all too well how life can spiral out of control when no one steps up.
For Ella, this isn’t just about a career, it’s about healing, protecting, and ensuring that the pain and struggles she’s faced don’t define her city, her family, or her future. She carries the weight of her past, and makes the best of it.
