Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals "fail" background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

44. INTRODUCE YOUR CHARACTER. INCLUDE SOME BACKGROUND STORY, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, AND WHY THEY WANT TO JOIN THE DEPARTMENT.
- René is part of a long lineage of military men, both through his mother (Lily Sanders, a military officer serving in the US Army) and his father (Jerome Gauthier, a military officer serving in the Canadian Army). His parents met during a NATO operation in the Balkans and have been trying to stay together ever since, which proved to be extremely difficult, so his mother decided to retire from the service in order to take care of René.
Although René was an USA Citizen, born in Los Santos in 1996 because his mother wanted him to have the US Citizenship, he was always accompanying his father when he was deployed to different locations and, in the latter part of his career, in Quebec City as part of the army headquarters (with the rank of colonel).
His mother took care to teach him English, he mostly speaks French (not only because of his father, but also because he was living in French Canada) so it could be said that he is bilingual in both languages. He always wanted to follow in the footsteps of his parents and, as he had US Citizenship, as soon as he finished high school he applied to the West Point military academy where he was accepted without difficulty.
He does not have a particularly strong constitution, something that caused him some troubles in the academy, but he is very sharp and intelligent as well as observant and attentive to detail. These skills did not go unnoticed during his time at the academy and when he graduated, in 2019, he was transferred to the Rammstein military base in Germany and, in this way, the army would take advantage of his facility with the French language, which would come in very handy in central Europe.
He was initially assigned to the 7th Training Command where he finished his training as a second lieutenant and participated in different military maneuvers in the region and specializing himself in second line logistical and support units. It didn't take him long to excel to his commander eyes, and he was transferred to the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade as a data analyst (or at least that's what he says) where he spent a little more than two years. After that time, for reasons he has not disclosed, he was asked to be discharged from the service and return to Los Santos as reservist (two years before the usual scheduled time serving as an active duty). The reality is that he was participating supporting anti-terrorist operations and his name and cover was exposed, so he had to request the transfer and leave for personal security. The army paid him a good sum of money as compensation so he could rebuild his life elsewhere.
He just came to Los Santos, in the other side of the planet from his last deployment in germany, and he is searching to rebuild his life outside the only thing he knows, the army career. Obviously his parents are dissapointed because of the interruption on his military career, so he is trying to get a work in the Los Santos Sheriff Department to continue serving his country.
My idea for developing the character is that he will be a person of slim build, who will have to work very hard to pass the physical tests, but that his sharpness and intelligence will allow him to easily pass the written tests.
Not being very strong or tough on a physical level, his career will drift towards the investigative (detective) branch and, until he manages to get into DB, he will try to get into Traffic where, he assumes, he will need nothing more than to be on the lookout for infractions and not so much chasing criminals through the streets.
