Dear Ms Palencia,

Your information request has been processed by the Sheriff's Information Bureau. As a result, this request has been set to concluded.

Thank you for your patience. You can find the relevant information below.
On the 23rd of July at approximately 2100 hours, The Los Santos County Sheriff's Department responded to a burglary in progress near Bay City Avenue in La Puerta which came through to law enforcement as an emergency call. Deputies who responded to this call for service recognized the audible signs of a struggle inside the building and began to formulate a plan to enter the residence.

Deputies made entry and began to clear the building, they met an individual wearing a black hoodie and ski mask inside the residence, deputies reported that they announced themselves and gave orders to see the individual's hands. The subject exited the building through a balcony and was pursued by law enforcement personnel.

Deputies gave clear orders of "Police, stop." during the foot chase. As the pursuit continued, deputies witnessed the subject reach into his hoodie pocket. The subject turned around a corner, resulting in a momentary loss of vision as it was not clear what was reached for, and entered a parked vehicle as the driver. Deputies ordered the subject to not start the car, and to step out of the car. However, the subject operated the vehicle and then started to drive directly towards a deputy who already had his weapon drawn. The deputy reported that he attempted to evade the vehicle, but due to the tight environment between the street and a six-foot fence, the deputy was unable to formulate an escape in time.

The deputy discharged his firearm to stop a threat of life against himself and ceased fire when the threat was neutralized and the vehicle came to a stop. During the investigation into the vehicle and identifying the subject, the deceased subject was found in possession of a Taurus .380 Super.
Kind regards,
