SHERIFF GREGORY REZNIK

Sheriff Gregory Reznik was elected as the 35th Sheriff of Los Santos County in 2023. He leads the largest Sheriff's Department in the United States, overseeing nearly 18,000 budgeted sworn and professional staff.

A 36-year veteran of the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department, Sheriff Reznik has held numerous key positions throughout his career. Notable roles include Division Chief of the Detective Division and Captain of the Operation Safe Streets Bureau.

Sheriff Reznik's election marks the culmination of almost four decades of dedicated service to the people of Los Santos County. He is committed to enhancing public safety, reducing crime, and delivering the highest standard of service to the community.

EXECUTIVE AND COMMAND STAFF

	Undersheriff Jonathan Medina BIOGRAPHY A graduate of class 287, Jonathan L. Medina has been in the Department since 1995. He was one of the first to be promoted to the rank of Captain under Sheriff Joseph Cline. As a deputy, his custody assignments included the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. He was assigned to patrol at East Los Santos and Davis Stations. Jonathan Medina also served on the Operation Safe Street Bureau's (OSS) Gang Enforcement Team, investigating violent crimes by gang members, and was in the Gang Surveillance Unit. As a sergeant, Medina was assigned to the Gang Enforcement Team. He also returned to OSS as a detective supervisor and operations sergeant. Medina was promoted to Lieutenant in the same bureau. In early 2017, Medina was promoted to the rank of Captain. He served at Operation Safe Streets Bureau before transferring to the Detective Division Headquarters, to serve as Chief of Detectives. In January 2022, Medina was promoted to Assistant Chief and moved to Countywide Operations. Throughout his tenure with the LSSD, Undersheriff Medina has dedicated his career to community engagement programs. He oversaw the Youth Athletic League at Olympic Station, managed several Block Club programs, mentored teenage young men in the South Los Santos area, and participated in the Department-sponsored E-Pal Program for grade school children. He is an avid fisherman and loves watching college football. He also enjoys partaking in outdoor activities, mainly running and biking.
Assistant Sheriff James Barnett BIOGRAPHY Assistant Sheriff James Barnett, born on June 4, 1970, has dedicated over three decades to the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department. Joining the department in 1991, Barnett began his career at the Men’s Central Jail before serving as a patrol deputy at the East Los Santos Sheriff’s Station. He transitioned to the Special Enforcement Bureau in 2000, where he excelled in multiple Special Weapons Teams, including Teams Blue, Black, Grey, and Red, participating in numerous high-risk operations. Promoted to sergeant in 2007, Barnett climbed the ranks to lieutenant, captain, and eventually division chief, taking on leadership roles that shaped the department’s tactical and strategic success. In 2024, he was appointed Assistant Sheriff, overseeing countywide operations. Known for his bravery and professionalism, Barnett has received numerous accolades, including the Medal of Valor, Meritorious Conduct Medals in Gold and Silver, the Purple Heart, and the Life Saving Award. A committed leader and mentor, Assistant Sheriff Barnett spends his free time volunteering in San Bernadino with veterans organizations, feeding the homeless, and is involved with Toys for Tots. Assistant Sheriff Barnett now resides in San Bernadino with his wife and two daughters.	Division Chief Nelson Moler BIOGRAPHY In 1982, Moler graduated from the Academy and began his law enforcement career working at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility before transferring to the Paleto Bay Sheriff's Station as a patrol deputy, later serving at the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB). When he promoted to Sergeant in 1991, Moler returned to the Paleto Bay Sheriff's Station as a Field Sergeant. He played a highly significant role in rewriting and formalizing the Department's policy with regard to radio communications and brevity. In 2002, Chief Moler took on the assignment of a Watch Commander at the Paleto Bay Sheriff's Station. While fulfilling his assignment, Moler selflessly managed and devoted himself to the Communications & Fleet Management Bureau while also contributing to the Training Bureau. In 2011, Moler promoted to Captain and oversaw the Paleto Sheriff's Station. The main Communications Center of the Communications & Fleet Management Bureau was named after him in honor of his continuous dedication, going above and beyond the expectations of his function. Chief Moler promoted to the rank of Commander in 2017 and was assigned to the Central Patrol Division, overseeing six of the Department's patrol station.
