Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals "fail" background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

44. INTRODUCE YOUR CHARACTER. INCLUDE SOME BACKGROUND STORY, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, AND WHY THEY WANT TO JOIN THE DEPARTMENT.
- Hugo's story began 21 years ago in a run-down government-subsidized apartment in South Los Santos. His premature birth was directly related to his family's social status - an alcoholic father who was never home and a hard-working, lower-class mother whose day-to-day priority was putting food on the table and making ends meet. Despite their condition, Hugo lived a relatively normal childhood. He went to school, had a few friends, worked hard for his above-average grades, and spent his free time hanging out with his friends. His transition into puberty was also uneventful, except for a group that kept pestering him in high school. Although he had never stood out in any way, good or bad, Hugo became a target of bullying, which went on throughout his school years. These recurrent events eventually got to him and affected his mental state. His once youthful and cheerful attitude slowly morphed into a gloomy, quiet nature. His friends strayed away from him and his grades worsened - all but his best friend and mother, who stayed by his side. He eventually graduated high school - barely - and had nowhere to go. His family's finances were still critical, his grades were laughable and his outlook on life was dull.
With no motivation and no specific skill set, Hugo decided to join the military. Having always been rather athletic, he tried out for the Marine Corps and failed. Then failed again. A year went by, time during which he worked odd jobs to make ends meet and help his mother out, but kept on training. Becoming a marine became his top priority - likely as an outlet for his rage, but also as a sense of purpose, something he had not felt in a long time. He eventually made the cut and went on to basic training, which he somehow got through. He spent the following two years doing mundane tasks around the base - security, patrols, training. He never got to be deployed, nor did he want to. Despite having no real motivation to join the military, it grew on him. The feeling of belonging to a group and being liked turned him, over the 3 years he spent as a marine, into a completely different person. His fitness level increased, he became resilient and learned how to channel his inner demons, mostly related to his high school trauma. He left the army at the age of 21, as a Lance Corporal, and moved back to San Andreas, in a small motel room in Alta. He picked up a side-gig as a security agent while he began looking for a more stable and future-proof opportunity.
