Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals "fail" background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

44. INTRODUCE YOUR CHARACTER. INCLUDE SOME BACKGROUND STORY, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, AND WHY THEY WANT TO JOIN THE DEPARTMENT.
- Jim Cloud was raised on the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa reservation. Like most other families living in poverty
growing up, his was no exception. His formative years spent focused on his education, dreaming of a better life.
He had seen how vices could be the death of a man's ambition time, and time again. As his own father often
found his solace within the bottle.
At times you learn what you wish to be like from your father, others exactly what you wish to never become.
Jim worked hard in school, though he didn't particularly like it growing up. Though he saw it as an avenue
to better the living conditions of his family. By middle school he would go to classes to learn Ojibwe after his
regular schooling.
Finding some inspiration in the stories of great Chiefs like Kechewaishke, sacrificing for their people.
All in the goal of providing a better live for them, overturning things like the Indian Removal Act,
and making sure things like the Sandy Lake tragedy would never happen again. While he was lucky, and
thankful to live in better conditions now.
He wanted to be certain he could make his mark in a similar manner at least in the familial level.
After High School he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, a young man eager to gain some experience,
and be able to receive help with college tuition. He received the MOS of a 6541 Intermediate level
Aviation Ordnance Systems Technician.
His time in service however was relatively uneventful during an age of peacetime. Most of his days spent overworked,
and underpaid at MALS-39. Going through backlogs of neglected maintenance from his first day in the fleet. Toiling away
in the mud so that pilots could look good on their promotions, and achieve their flight hours. He didn't hesitate
to work towards his own however.
Having scored exceptional scores on the range, physical fitness, and combat fitness tests. After a successful promotion board,
he picked up as soon as he was eligible with time in grade as he had a competitive cutting score. After seeing the equivalent salaries
the civilian contractors made, that performed less work. He had decided to try to find a more meaningful career, and not re-enlist.
Working at the Casino on the Rez for a few years as Jim put together a plan for the long term on a path for himself to pursue.
His experience in the Casino made him realize it was just another vice people abused, oftentimes driving themselves to ruin.
Wanting nothing more then to find a job that had a level of camaraderie he had experienced in the corps. It eventually
led him to explore the booming economy of San Andreas. Moving there, and putting his foot forward with an application to LSSD.
Jim knew deep down, the level of fulfillment he'd feel in positively affecting a community he worked in would bring him contentment
in a career if he managed to make it through. (MINIMUM 250 WORDS)
