Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals "fail" background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

44. INTRODUCE YOUR CHARACTER. INCLUDE SOME BACKGROUND STORY, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, AND WHY THEY WANT TO JOIN THE DEPARTMENT.
- Melany Quiroz was born on June 6th, 2001, she is the oldest of 3 siblings. She was born to a mother and father. Her mother, a reformed gang member who had become a full time secretary at a medical supply company. Her father began working his way into becoming a journeyman plumber after leaving his old life behind. Her father died at a young age due to unknown complications with his heart. Later in life, Melany's home got burglarized, and she recalled the Sheriff's Deputy arriving with a command presence and looking honorable. She also recalled that the deputy who responded was able to bring calm to the stressful and hectic situation, and she admired those characteristics and wanted to become the calm in the chaos herself. She began the Sheriff's explorers in middle school, but later dropped out in her High School years as she began to hang out with the wrong crowd due to peer pressure. She became more worried about what people thought during her high school years, and began hanging out with the local neighborhood kids and becoming more of a party person. She left this phase rather quickly as high school came to an end and she wanted to set a better example for her siblings and start her life out correctly. She enlisted in the Marines after High School, and became a military police officer. She did her time in and after her first contract, she felt it was better to begin her path into civilian law enforcement. She enjoyed her time in military law enforcement, but felt that she wanted to branch out to the civilian sector as the military sector was not as fruitful or exciting as she had once hoped. Melany left active duty service in the Marines, and began applying at her local department. She recalled the incident in her early childhood, and the Sheriff's Department left a lasting impression on her.
