Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals "fail" background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

44. INTRODUCE YOUR CHARACTER. INCLUDE SOME BACKGROUND STORY, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, AND WHY THEY WANT TO JOIN THE DEPARTMENT.
- Xander Hackshaw, a 21-year-old born January 7th, 1998. He grew up in a middle-class household on the outskirts of Los Santos, San Andreas. Raised in a Christian family by his parents Mark and Emily, who own a diner off the Great Ocean Highway.
Early in life, Xander was angry a lot of the time and never seemed to have fun participating in any activities or playing sports. His mother Emily, wanted him to experience different things and enjoy his childhood to the fullest. It wasn’t until the 7th grade when he stumbled upon a poster for the gym at his school and decided to try it out. Immediately, he found solace being in the gym and working out for the betterment of himself. For the first time, Xander was excited to go to school with his new found sanctuary. He eventually gravitated towards boxing, starting with speed bags and eventually sparring with some friends he had made at the gym.
As Xander transitioned into high school, he continued to juggle his studies, boxing, and working part-time at his parents’ diner to make some extra money. An introduction to law class in his second semester sparked his interest in the legal field. The intricacies of the law and the debates that the class had were intriguing to him. Xander was still unsure of what he wanted to pursue in life although his experience in his law class got him thinking about a career in the legal field. Despite uncertainty about his future career, he applied and was enrolled in the criminal justice program at the University of San Andreas, Los Santos, supported by his parents.
Moving into an apartment near campus with his roommate Jack, Xander continued to work at the diner. He juggled his studies while also enjoying activities and continuing his gym routine. In his first semester, a class on police fundamentals further continued his interest in law enforcement.
After four years of university, his graduation approached, Xander made the decision to pursue a career in law enforcement, drawn to the knowledge he gained from his courses in police fundamentals. Still living with Jack and working at his parents' diner, Xander began to debate which law enforcement agency he would apply for. After deliberation, he decided to apply to the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department, due to the values and standards they hold. As the journey continues…
