In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail†background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

- In 1997, Paul Williams McJones was born in Washington D.C. He is the second child of a foreign service officer and a defense attorney on maternity leave. They were located in Kings Contrivance in Columbia, MD, a village most people could not afford to reside in. They inhabited a beautiful two-story house, in which they were mainly raised. In this setting, the few issues you would encounter would be qualified as 'rich people's problems'. Christian Matthew McJones, his father, was not the present type considering his career. However, he compensated for that very well with the education he provided to his children. He is an awesome husband, father and role model, from whom Paul is striving to be like. As long as her children were unable to care for themselves, the mother sacrificed her ascending career in order to provide them with the love required for healthy growth. She was associated with the most popular law firm in Washington D.C, and she was doing great at making a name for herself. Unfortunately, giving birth came with its downsides which she dealt with in an impressive way. She is an outstanding mother and wife since she was the reason her couple functioned that well. They were very complementary to each other. And that was essential to Paul's education and support system.
The first child was Kaelyn, his three-year-older sister. Paul is an older brother himself: his mother had given birth to Sarah when he was two. As Kaelyn, Paul and Sarah grew up, they grew very close to one another: basically, did everything together. This complicity generated this unbreakable bond between them. When the time came, they were all enrolled to Columbia Academy, which was the closest private school in the area. They attended Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle School there. School was the period in which Paul discovered himself. He discovered that regardless of his reserved nature, the heritage of his father's social skills allowed him to make friends quite easily. As a matter of fact, he even had his own crew: Adam, Billy and Reece. They would do all sorts of foolish things, including a lot of pranks. One time, they flagged down a Howard County police officer just to throw water ballons at him. When they tried to flee, the HCPD officer caught them and brought them to the station, pissed off. After inquiry, he threatened to call their parents and charge them with assault. Turns out he pulled a prank of his own on the young fellas. They couldn't believe it and while they were drowning in pools of their own sweat, he called their legal guardians to share a laugh with them, before they came to pick them up. Goofing around with friends is what allowed him to define himself socially.
Sophie unpausing her career was a major disruption to the family's way of life. Her co-founding a law firm based on her reputation prior to attending her maternal duties allowed her and her partner to work on high-profile cases. However, high-profile cases meant media exposure and quickly the press started invading the family's privacy. Paul and his sisters resented her career as they already did not have much of a routine together as a family (except during holidays), this buried any chances of family gatherings of any sort. Thankfully, Christian's new assignment was in Paris, France, and since it was a low-risk environment, he brought them along for a change of scenery. The kids had a hard time saying goodbye to their lives in the United States, even if it was temporary. Saying goodbye to friends and relatives is hard enough but having to adapt to another culture, language, way of living was too hard. The switch happened when Paul was transitioning to high school, therefore he enrolled in the International School of Paris in which he followed an International Baccalaureate program. High School was the period where Paul hated his life the most. He was not positive about this change and started acting rebellious.
His teenage crisis hit a peak when he found out his father was the Acting Ambassador of the United States in France. He figured that he would not return home for a long time. He wasn't wrong. For three years, he had to accommodate to French customs especially in Paris, because people in Paris live that fast life, you know? Ultimately, he ended up making several memorable acquaintances and he even found love during his last high school year. They rapidly got close, and Paul spoiled her with an extensive amount of expensive gifts like designer apparel, high-end jewelry, etc... He personally dressed humbly, but he surely would spend thousands just to please his girlfriend. And she was indeed very pleased. Love adventure came to an end when Paul graduated. His father was promoted to Ambassador at the end of his term as Acting Ambassador in France, meaning a comeback to D.C to play politics. The McJones family had no business being in France anymore and Paul's relationship did not survive the distance. This broke Paul in ways he hadn't anticipated. It also brought him to the realization that he had no purpose in life. His cousin, Darell played a major part in getting him out of the dark hole by advising him to follow his parent's path.
He subsequently decided he would get into Law School. Since he had excellent grades, he did not have a hard time being accepted in New York University. He pursued a B.S in Mathematics, followed by a Juris Doctor degree. Because he had no purpose in life, he ended up partying, screwing around, drinking instead of seriously studying. His behavior only led him to further depression. His overall health and hygiene were questionable. Darell coming back from training served as a wake up-call. He asked Paul what he wanted to become. The latter was speechless. Thereupon, Darell told him what had motivated him to join the Army. Some story that has to do with 9/11 and his father coming back after his 1st deployment, drinking all night with his buddies and bringing Darell with him. Paul really had no idea how he could relate to that. But that made him think. Despite his parents serving as somewhat role models, he did not aspire to be like them professionally due to the disruption their jobs caused in his life.
At the end of the day, the closest person he could aspire to become was that Howard County Police officer. Charismatic, brave, playful, funny, dedicated, these characteristics could all be associated with Sergeant Shaquille Graham. After a quick Google search, he finds out that the sergeant was killed in the line of duty. He then inquires about him looking for a relative, maybe even a child. Nothing. Turns out Shaquille Graham was not one to have attachments. In shock, Paul felt like he owed it to Graham to honor him. He couldn't explain it, he didn't even know the guy that much and only had interacted with him once in his life. But that interaction stuck with him. That is when he decided he would be fully invested in his studies and he decided to go for a Master of Laws, specialized in Criminal Law.
Upon completing his Master of Laws in 2023, Paul had changed. Graduated top of his class and he seemed to have matured as well. His vision in life wasn't clouded by the money anymore and quite frankly, he had enough of easing through life. Paul wanted to start over from scratch. He wanted to be as far as possible from the world of his parents. And nothing is farthest to the East Coast than the West Coast. Thus, he opted for Los Santos. When he landed at Los Santos International by commercial flight, that is when he felt real freedom for the first time ever in his life. That is until, when exiting the airport, he noticed that a private chauffeur was waiting for him and the cherry on top is that his mother had bought him an apartment in West Vinewood. Furious, he called her, asking her to let him live his own life. She reluctantly accepted his wish, and he - not-so reluctantly - accepted to live in the fancy apartment.
The first thing he did was create a brand-new bank account without his parents’ money inside. That allowed him to pretend he had financial independence. Then he needed to satisfy his natural needs, therefore he went looking for a job. He found an ad for a Lot Managing position in Los Santos Motors. It would be the first time Paul would get a job. But he handled the interview like a champ. He was slowly integrating society as an independent individual and that made him happy. Still, he was missing something in his life. A desire, a direction, a goal. He considered getting a bar certification as he studied law, but it didn't sit right with him (perhaps due to his mother). The next logical thing would be assistant district attorney; however, his fear of public speaking clearly would be an issue. In logic, the next thing to consider was Law Enforcement. It might sound like a stupid reason but that appealed to him because of his memory of Sergeant Shaquille Graham. Consequently, he resigned from Los Santos Motors and applied to join the Los Santos Sheriff Department.
