Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail†background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

- Joseph was born to a small family of four consisting of his parents and his younger brother Max. His parents, who are of German descent, were the second generation of his family that immigrated to Los Santos in the early 1940s. He initially grew up in a small apartment in Alta until he hit the age of 7 at which point he and his family moved to a house they purchased in Paleto Bay. Joseph had a rather ordinary childhood although his parents were quiet strict and they put a strong emphasis on studies. As a result, Joseph was a dedicated student and a curious child. Joseph had some resentment towards his younger brother Max who was 5 years younger than him and seemed to get most of the attention from his parents. His relationship with his brother improved dramatically after Max, who was 10 at the time, fell terribly ill. Joseph was hit with the possibility of losing Max and he since became very protective of his younger brother. Joseph endured years of bullying in school as a result of his awkward nature and excessive focus on studies. He would often bring this to the attention of his parents but usually to their dismay where they would simply tell him to toughen up and continue focusing on his studies.
At the age of 16, a dramatic event would shake Joseph's rather uneventful life. His mother Maria, who worked as a nurse in Pillbox Hill Hospital, was walking to her car late one night after finishing her shift when she was intercepted by a group of gangsters who mugged her and beat her bloody. Joseph, who would hear the news later that night after being woken by his father, was in extreme shock. His family rushed to the hospital and Joseph could not withstand seeing his mother like that. She was in a critical condition. Luckily, Joseph's mother recovered in a few months and Joseph was allowed to visit his mother during her stay in the hospital. Detectives from the police department visited Maria at least twice a week to ask follow up questions regarding the incident. One of the detectives, who Joseph later found out was leading the investigation, would see Joseph sitting with his mother and he would usually usher him and try to comfort him. Joseph would ask many questions regarding the investigation being the curious young man he was. The detective would try to give Joseph some information without disclosing so much information. This was how Joseph was introduced to forensic science and its role in law enforcement. It wasn't long before Joseph developed a full fledged passion for forensic science and he was determined to major in it in college. Most of his peers still hadn't even decided if they were going to continue their studies or not but he always had a solid answer when asked what he wanted to be. The gangsters of the mugging incident were eventually arrested and charged which gave Joseph's family some much needed resolve.
Two years later, Joseph would be accepted into the Technical University of Los Santos after graduating high school. This was Joseph's opportunity to shine and secure a future in a career he would enjoy. He would work exceptionally to ensure he maximized his grades in most core courses of his major. He also had an interest in languages which is why he took an elective in Spanish to add to his arsenal of languages. Joseph picked up German from his parents even though he did not use the language often. After 9 semesters, Joseph graduated from university with a very good standing and he began his hunt for a career in law enforcement. Since then, he has been using his free time working a number of jobs to support his family who is now focused on getting Max through college. Most recently, he found out that the recruitment for the sheriff's department was open and he thinks this might just be the career opportunity he has been eagerly waiting for.
