- My character is inspired by an older neighbor and his stories. Like my IRL neighbor, Gustavo is divorced, has 2 kids, and got nothing but a car left. He lives with his very old parents. Originally, I wanted to portray a young character like me, just grind for the best-looking sport cars in the game. In time, it became much more fun roleplaying a low wage worker, who can't afford much (he even asks his neighbor to come give him a hair cut, that's how poor he is at the moment).
I set his age at 36, because he's been through many things. His family moved into the US when he was young (about 9-10 years old). He studied mechanics, and was curious to find more about how cars work. He served as an apprentice in different workshops after graduating the technical college, and was offered to work for Downtown Cab Company. He got his license almost two years after serving as a fleet technician. For the next 11-12 years, he worked as a taxi driver for the same company. This is how he met his wife, Luiza Violeta Herrera, who just happened to be a flirty client. Their marriage was of course, with ups and downs. Luiza put an end to it after 10 years - she had an affair with another man.
As mentioned before, they have two kids: Victor (age 10) and Julian (age 8). Gustavo has to pay child support for both. This is the reason he switched many jobs in a 3 year range.
He spends some time every now and then with his retired neighbor, Joshua, a war veteran. He was the one who lit the spark and noticed Gustavo may still be fit for the military, as he is a faithful and tempered man. Of course, Gustavo loves his kids, and still loves his ex-wife, so would never risk his life that way, knowing they will be left without a father visiting them each weekend, or other unthinkable scenarios. While jumping from job to job, he decided to drop his CV to the Sheriff's Department as well. His only drive right now is taking care of his kids' future and education, but to achieve that he needs a more consistent job that fits him right and rewards his main trait: faithfulness.
