Upon arriving on scene, the suspect, later identified as 21 year-old "Maurice Lacey", was observed running towards a Grey and Black Albany Emperor with the license plates "PYW681". He entered the vehicle and evaded officers for 15 minutes, driving throughout South-Central. The suspect crashed into a pole near B.J. Smith Park, before fleeing on foot through the park. Maurice Lacey was eventually tazed and arrested. Upon searching the subject, he was discovered to have a Combat Pistol, 24 9mm rounds, 8 grams of marijuana, and two grams of cocaine on his person.
Detectives confirmed that two suspects were murdered on Chamberlain Avenue and the forensics team identified that the bullet casings were linked to the firearm on Maurice Lacey's possession.
