Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail†background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

- Kurt Whitfield is an ordinary citizen born in Blaine County. His greatest motivation to join law enforcement came from watching cowboy movies with his father as a child. His father was a car mechanic, and his mother was as a waitress in a local diner, so Kurt spent a lot of time at home watching old cowboy movies on his own. He was always fascinated by the police forces in these films.
After graduating from high school, he realized that life wasn't like the movies, so he went after regular jobs and put his dream of becoming a law enforcement officer on hold for a while. Kurt didn't want to go to the city and look for a job there because he was used to the town since he was a child. Living in a small town, he knew so many people and working at his uncle's repair shop helped him to chat with other deputies frequently. As he talked to them more and spent time with them, he decided to pursue his dream once again. He was also looking for a stable and regular job, so that he could at least guarantee his life in terms of salary and he knew he would not need to chase daily jobs for the rest of his life.
After feeling psychologically and physically prepared, he applied to the Sheriff's Department in 2022, but the result was not positive for him; he failed the written test. So, during this one year, he further developed himself in terms of knowledge, tried to figure out where he had made a mistake. Now he believes he has what it takes to pass the employment process and to become a valuable part of the agency.
