Instructions to the Applicant
The information you provide in this application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953.
Disqualification
There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals "fail" background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

44. INTRODUCE YOUR CHARACTER. INCLUDE SOME BACKGROUND STORY, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, AND WHY THEY WANT TO JOIN THE DEPARTMENT.
- Lavern was born to a lower class family in the outskirts of Seattle, near the smaller city of Tacoma as the only daughter of her two parents. She was a surprise child of a not very responsible family that seperated when she was only two, resulting in her mother returning to Los Santos, back to their family home with Lavern. Despite being born in Seattle, Lavern remembers very little of it as she grew up in San Andreas most of his life afterwards, going from kindergarten to high school in her local schools. Having grown up in South Central, law enforcement units were nothing too stranger to her as she saw patrols on regular and on more than a few occasions she exchanged some words with local officers. Lavern's introverted personality prevented her from being involved in much of the activities happening in her neighborhood, making very little connection with the members of local gangs around her while keeping her head down for the most part. It was her thinking out of the box that made her sympathize with the law enforcement in her early years, instead of growing an automatic hate against them like some other locals. Eventually, Lavern found her way out of the hood through a boyfriend that she met through her work as a dispatcher, moving out of South Central to a humble apartment at Pillbox Hill together.
From there, she achieved her next job in a real estate agency, which she could describe as close to being one class above her usual paygrade. For a long while, Lavern kept it in her as a long term goal to switch departments in her agency and acquire education for a real estate license through her employer and such was what she was developing her career towards. That was if she wasnt a complete newbie both to the culture of this work and she simply did not have the experience or the wisdom to receive such a long term investment from her employers and the way things looked, she had at least several more years for her to even start developing that way. Adding to this, her position as secretary proved herself to be vulnerable to a set of workplace harassment and a significant gender pay gap, to which Lavern was too passive to act on, it was however enough for a call to shift her goals as soon as it was safely possible.
The decision of seeking her career in LSSD started growing its roots in her after an incident of a pickpocket that occured to her after she switched her career around to her final job as secretary. What was a simple act of her purse being stolen and her expressing herself to a nearby patrol car about it swiftly turned into a process of her being asked to the police station for an interview and the culprit being found in little time after the petty crime. Though as small and short as this process was, it helped Lavern see a different side of the law than the usual sight of the hood she grew up in and impressed her to some extent. Although the incident was not an inspiration to sign up for an academy, it was simply enough to have Lavern start researching towards the direction. The benefits, pay and opportunities were things that were unheard of to the standarts that she grew up seeing and soon it led to her joining an LSSD career fair, in which she had the chance to have conversation with deputies of different divisions, some of which sharing a smiliar past life as her enough to sympathize with her and she found herself having an enjoyable time in that enviroment. After a few months, the process to stabilize her finances and working on her physical condition started and Lavern is at the point where she makes her attempt now.
